Well what a phenomenal year it has been for us all at Snugglebundl! It was just after New Year’s Day 2011 when we all got together and decided to develop the Bundl and see if we could launch it as a new product for parents. From that moment forth we have hardly stopped to catch our breath!
We have learnt so much and had so many experiences along the way. We thought it might be nice to just bring you up to speed on the Bundls journey to this point.

It all began on boats! The 3 of us are all neighbours on a lovely little houseboat community in Shoreham, West Sussex and we made our boats both our offices and our workrooms. Our small galleys were taken over completely as we set about developing the Bundl and setting up our Snugglebundl Company.

Opening an account with Barclays Bank led us into swiftly entering their ‘Take one small step’ national new business competition, with only a few weeks with which to meet the deadline. We knew that we had to work fast, and as we drew up our business plan the to-do-list became daunting! As we tackled the ever growing list of jobs to get our business going we were informed that we had made it past the Barclays judging panel and through to the regional finals from thousands of other businesses. We were inspired, but now we had just under a month to get as many public votes as we could. It was the busiest month of our lives! We worked every waking hour, rallying support from everyone we knew and then hitting the streets to campaign for votes from complete strangers. It was during this process that we met our local MP, Tim Loughton,Minister for children and families, and he was extremely enthusiastic about the Bundl. The local Mumpreneurs were fantastic in their support, as were the staff at our local Barclays and all our local newspapers and magazine. In fact we were completely blown away by the overall belief from everybody we met that the Bundl was a brilliant idea. On July 20th dressed in tuxedos and feeling both exhausted and excited Mike and Dave attended the Barclays Gala dinner along with the other finalists. The gold envelope revealed us to be the winners of the Southern region award for new business and along with the winners from the other regions we celebrated our victory with champagne and smiles.

3 Months later we have a little office in Shoreham which is a lot nicer than working on our houseboats. We have crossed off a lot from our to-do-list and worked steadily through our business plan. We have patents applied,trademarks and safety marks got. We have had such great help from new parents testing the Bundl. We have a manufacturer in the UK and have a small amount of stock ready for our first customers. It has been a long, challenging journey so far but we have achieved so much in such a relatively short time and we feel excited that we can finally let the world see the Bundl the world’s first baby lifting blanket for the first time.
